Picking up a hobby can be easy if you are there to help your children with it. Woodworking can be an interesting hobby for your child, give that you tell him the right techniques and tips to work with wood without getting hurt. If you own a wood shop or like working with wood, it is natural for your children to pick up these traits from you and follow in your footsteps. Think twice if you really want him to take it up as a hobby as there are a few health hazards attached with this hobby that can become a hindrance.

Educate your children about wood. Take a small session and explain the importance of wood and its uses to your child. This will help him a lot in learning more about working with wood and will also encourage him to think and innovate. Here, you should also tell him about the hazards that can come his way while he works with wood.

Once your child knows about what he has to do with wood, make sure you set some rules for him to follow. You can note them down on a paper or post them up in the wood shop for your child to remember them. Make sure your child follows the rules or he might end up with an injury. He should know that the rules are for his safety and that if he doesn’t follow the, he will be taken away from the woodworking shop immediately.

Do not leave your child unattended in the workshop. This will help him learn more as you will instruct him as he works. Watch him as he works with the wood and inserts the blades on the saws and sort through the router bit sets for the correct bit  and make him learn the importance of guidance and perfection. Arrange for new eye protection mask, gloves and a face mask so that he remains absolutely safe.

This is a hobby for your child and thus it should be more of fun and less of work for him. Let him experiment and have fun in his own way. Here too, you will have to supervise him at every step. Never let your child use materials that are harsh and can harm him. Assign a simple project to your child to make him work hard towards it. You can then reward him for doing a great job. This can be the perfect summer activity for any child. If your child is too young and finds it hard to do the job himself, you can be his woodworking buddy.

This is how you can help your child pick up a hobby like woodworking. The more you make him learn, better he will be at it when he grows up. If he becomes a pro at it, he can also take it up as a full time profession when he grows up. If not woodworking, help your child take up some other hobby to enhance his skills and knowledge. He can choose from any activity like gardening, writing, calligraphy or any other similar activity.

Cleaning

During the summers, when you use the pool more often, make it a point to clean the skimmer baskets, pump and the filter at least once in a week, especially if the weather is windy and there are trees around the pool. The right way to clean the filter is by backwashing it for three to five minutes and then rinsing it for around a minute or so to remove all the dust and other particles. The chlorinator cell should also be cleaned once a week if you are using a salt chlorinator which is not self-cleanable. Keep a pool skim handy to be able to clean the surface of the pool

Water testing

Yes here, the task for you is to literally test the waters – – but in the swimming pool, to be able to keep yourself and your family free from allergies and other diseases. Test the water in the water body regularly and make sure that the chlorine level is not more than 1.5 to 3.0 ppm and pH does not go beyond 7.0 to 7.6. Even if you have been testing the water regularly, it is recommended that you have a sample of it tested at an authorized pool laboratory. This will help you keep safe and save money
